Road racing 2013: who goes where?
Honda TT Legends – John McGuinness will again spearhead the Honda attack in the Superbike classes but his team-mate has yet to be announced. Simon Andrews is expected to be stay with the team for a second term (albeit probably for the World Endurance Championship only) while Michael Rutter has been strongly linked with the Louth-based squad. The team are rumoured to be running a third Superbike at the Internationals and Michael Dunlop could also come into the fray here.
Wilson Craig Honda – having already lost William Dunlop, rumours suggest the Northern Ireland businessman may also lose Cameron Donald. Both Conor Cummins and Gary Johnson have been linked with the team.
Padgetts Honda – no major changes for the Batley squad with Bruce Anstey competing in all classes on the rainbow-liveried machines whilst John McGuinness will again ride Supersport and Superstock machinery for Clive Padgett’s well-drilled squad. However, Gary Johnson is unlikely to return for a second campaign
SMR Yamaha – with Ian Hutchinson already on the sidelines for 2013, Shan Muir is committed to a two-man team and it is believed Cameron Donald, Conor Cummins, Gary Johnson and William Dunlop have all spoken to the Guisborough-based businessman.
Tyco Suzuki – Guy Martin will remain with Hector and Philip Neill’s team for a third successive year whilst Conor Cummins could return for a second term after an injury disrupted 2012. Josh Brookes could well be adding the TT to his BSB commitments.
Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki – having had a superb NW200 and TT in 2012, James Hillier is expected to stay with Pete Extance’s team and lead Kawasaki’s attack on the roads next year.
KMR Kawasaki – recently retired Ryan Farquhar is hoping to continue with his team in 2013, in at least the Supertwin class. He’s already expressed his desire to continue with protege Jamie Hamilton across the classes whilst the likes of Michael Rutter and Jeremy McWilliams could again come into the fray for Supertwin outings.
MSS Kawasaki – despite losing official Kawasaki status in BSB, Nick Morgan’s team have signalled their intentions to run a two-man team on the roads. Alastair Seeley has already been signed up for the NW200.
RC Express Kawasaki – effectively a satellite team of MSS, Dean Harrison will ride for the team in the Superbike and Superstock categories whilst he’ll campaign an Ian Bell Motorcycles Yamaha in the Supersport class.
ILR Kawasaki – the evergreen Ian Lougher will continue to race in 2013, when he turns the ripe old age of 50, and will again be the sole rider in the team he owns and manages.
Wilcock Consulting Honda – Dan Stewart will again be the sole rider on Honda machinery for the leading privateer team.
McAdoo Racing – the Cookstown-based team supported Michael Dunlop in 2012 and could well do so again in 2013 although they recently put up for sale all their machinery and race equipment.
Marks Bloom Racing – Dan Kneen will continue with the Kingston upon Thames squad and will once more ride Suzuki machinery in the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock classes.
Splitlath Aprilia – expected to contest the TT and NW200 once more with Mark Miller, David Johnson and Manx GP winner John Simpson in the frame.
Oxford TAG Triumph – expected to make their TT debut in 2013 in the Supersport class with Cameron Donald a possible rider.
Millsport Ducati – Lee Johnston will continue with Patrick Murray’s team, campaigning the Ducati Panigale in both Superbike and Superstock trim. The former National Superstock 600cc champion will ride in the Supersport class for East Coast Construction.
