Ik heb een aannemelijke verklaring van ScottOiler ontvangen:
Yes! We have seen this on many times 650 Versys (and also ER6 models) made from 2009 onwards. We haven’t seen any for a long time, though -you are the first for more than two years.
This happens on models with DID chains and sprockets that are made in Thailand (the chains do not say “JAPAN” on every third link). It usually happens at about 6-9,000km.
It is not a compatibility problem with our oil and the O-rings. It is a huge force that makes this happen.
On chains and sprockets we have examined, it appears that the front sprockets are very soft and wear very quickly - until the chain no longer fits them, and a perfectly adjusted chain starts to get tighter – until the suspension cannot compress. Every time you ride over a bump on the road, the chain is trying to bend the swing arm to the left and the sprocket teeth push the rollers over to the left side plates, and the side plates squeeze out the O-rings (see photos).
We have seen a few customers supplied with a new (original) chain set under warranty from Kawasaki - and the same thing happened again.
Changing to any good quality chain and sprocket set - from any well known brand – (RK, CZ, Regina, Tsubaki, Renthal, - or Japanese DID) will solve this problem.
Dus er komt een andere kettingset onder dan de originele.
Bij belangstelling voor de foto's wil ik nog wel even proberen deze hier te uploaden
