McCoy crashes: suspected broken leg
20 Feb 2002
Aussie Garry McCoy has suffered a suspected broken leg at the first day of the IRTA test in Estoril today.
The Red Bull Yamaha rider crashed towards the end of the day having dominated setting a fastest time of 1.40.18. That time was half-a-second inside Loris Capirossi\'s lap record and having set the quickest time in the first IRTA session at Valencia last weekend, McCoy looked to be setting his stall out for the 2002 campaign in devastating fashion. Second best Shinya Nakano was a massive 0.8s behind McCoy when he crashed out.
He is understood to have broken the tibia or fibia bone in his lower leg, but no official news has been confirmed as McCoy was still undergoing treatment.
McCoy\'s world title hopes last season were wrecked when he broke his wrist in qualifying for the French GP at Le Mans.

GVD vorig jaar had hij z\'n pols gebroken en nu misschien zijn been. Ik hoop van niet, want een McCoy in vorm staat garant voor spektakel. Hij was wel weer lekker bezig getuige zijn tijden.
