Yamaha brengt dragstar en wildstar serie onder bij een nieuwe merknaam "Star Motorcycles" waar blijkbaar ook de V-Max en de Virago-serie onder gaat vallen. Voorlopig blijkbaar alleen in de VS.

Yamaha creates Star Motorcycles brand for its cruisers

Yamaha has spun off its Star line of motorcycles into its own brand Star Motorcycles to give the cruiser bikes a stronger identity of their own, a higher level of support and more options for accessorizing and customizing.

The tuning fork company, which has been building Star cruisers for almost 10 years, says there are already more than 250,000 Star owners, and several large Star owner groups. The new Star Motorcycles brand builds on this loyal following by focusing specifically on cruiser riders and their needs.

For example, a full line of accessories is available to customize Star motorcycles. A new website www.starmotorcycles.com is specifically targeted to cruiser riders and includes an interactive "Build Your Own" section that allows users to pick a Star model, color, and add accessories to see how the bike would look.

Star Motorcycles, already active at cruiser events around the country, will add even more events to its schedule as well as branching out to other types of events, such as AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship races.

By the end of the year, Star Motorcycles plans to offer live customer support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so that even if a rider is at a rally on a Saturday night and has a question, someone can help.

"As a true brand, and not just a model line, Star Motorcycles has turned onto its own road," Yamaha said in a statement announcing the new brand. "The focus is not just on creating great motorcycles, which we do, but on creating an overall Star lifestyle experience.

"Or, to put it another way, it's not just about motorcycles. It's about motorcycling."
