Round 12 - AMA/FIM Supercross Series 2011 - Toronto
Saturday, 26 March 2011 10:15

0 Ryan Dungey wins Toronto Supercross Main Event - his first win of the season. Chad Reed takes over Series points lead. It's round 12 of the 2011 AMA Supercross Series at Rogers Centre in Toronto Canada! Dean Wilson wins 250 East Regional Main Event

Rogers Centre
The Rogers Centre is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of MLB. In timed practice for the Supercross East 250 Lites, Ryan Sipes, from Kentucky, on top with 53.04 seconds. Dean Wilson second with 53.23, then Justin Barcia 54.07, Blake Baggett 54.62, Matt Lemoine 54.65, and Malcolm Stewart 55.20.

In the premiere Supercross class best practice lap times, James Stewart ups the ante. He goes 51.81! Trey Canard 52.94, Chad Reed 53.05, Ryan Dungey 53.34, Ryan Villopoto 53.52, and both Kevin Windham and Justin Brayton go 53.66.

250 East Qualifying Heat 1 - A crowd of over 45,000 watched as Dean Wilson takes the holeshot in this six lap qualifier. After they settle, Wilson holds the point position, with his team-mate Blake Baggett in second. Malcolm Stewart is third, followed by Darryn Durham, Blake Wharton, and PJ Larsen.

The checkered flag sees them all hold position - Dean Wilson is the winner, Blake Baggett is second, Malcolm Stewart third, Darryn Durham fourth, Blake Wharton fifth, and PJ Larsen sixth.

250 East Qualifying Heat 2 - Series points leader Justin Barcia has the start of this second race of the night. Ryan Sipes goes down in the first corner.

It's Justin Barcia leading - pulling a nice lead too, G Audette on the Yamaha, number 533 is second. L Vincent number 245 on Honda is third. Then Matt Lemoine 48 on Kawasaki next, followed by J Sipes number 283 on Kawasaki.

But as Barcia holds point position, Ryan Sipes is coming thru the pack. At the finish, it's Barcia with the win, G Audette second, L Vincent, Matt Lemoine, and Ryan Sipes up to fifth. His brother Justin finishes sixth.

Supercross Qualifying Heat 1 - The holeshot of this eight lap race goes to 2010 Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey. Kevin Windham is in second. Chris Blose third.

As they start the third lap, it's Dungey out front, Trey Canard has worked his way to second position, Kevin Windham third, then C Blose, and Davi Millsaps. They are followed by Nick Wey and Cole Seely.

At the end of the sixth lap - Trey Canard has passed Ryan Dungey for the lead! It's Canard, Dungey, Windham, Millsaps, and Blose.

At the finish - Trey Canard is the winner! Ryan Dungey is second, Kevin Windham third, then Millsaps, Wey, Seely, Blose.

Supercross Qualifying Heat 2 - Weston Peick number 43 with the holeshot on his Yamaha! - he's leading most of this first lap. But James Stewart has other ideas - like taking over the lead - which he does before the end of the first lap. Ryan Villopoto is a ways back.

At the end of the third lap, the running order James Stewart, Chad Reed, Michael Byrne, Justin Brayton, and Weston Peick. Ryan Villopoto is into seventh.

At the halfway point - Stewart first with a big lead, Byrne second, Reed third, Ivan Tedesco, Weston Peick, and Ryan Villopoto.

At the end of this race - it's James Stewart, with a huge lead, almost 20 seconds! And James Stewart takes the win. Chad Reed finishes second. Ryan Villopoto works his way up to third! Then fourth is Ivan Tedesco, fifth M Byrne, and then Peick, Brayton, Simmonds, and M Alessi. Andrew Short was out after one lap - not sure why ... technically scored as 20th.

But Short comes back to win the Supercross LCQ to make it to the Supercross Main Event, along with second place Fabien Izoird.

250 East 15 Lap Main Event - Blake Wharton goes into the lead! Justin Barcia is right behind. But before the end of the this first lap, Justin Barcia has passed Wharton for the lead. Ryan Sipes goes down - restarts last.

Lap three - Justin Barcia out front. Dean Wilson is now up to second. Malcolm Stewart crashes hard on triple jump - he's out of the race. Blake Wharton is third. Then PJ Larsen, H Hewitt, G Audette, Justin Sipes, ... Blake Baggett is 12th, Ryan Sipes is 16th.

At the end of lap seven, it's Barcia, Wilson, B Wharton, Larsen Hewitt, Audette, J Sipes.

Barcia has about a four bike length lead over Wilson as they start to encounter lappers.

On lap nine, in the whoops sections, and then a right hand corner, Wilson passes Barcia for the lead! Wharton is third. PJ Larsen with a nice ride in fourth.

Wilson is starting to stretch out a lead over Barcia. Wharton is quite a ways back in third.

Dean Wilson wins this 250 Supercross East Main Event in Toronto! Justin Barcia is second, and still series points leader! Blake Wharton is third. PJ Larsen fourth. Ryan Sipes all the way up to fifth. Blake Baggett finishes sixth.

Dean says: I just keeping pushing forward - that's all I could do. The win means a lot to me. Thanks to everyone that came out, my family, everyone.

Supercross 20 Lap Main Event - There is an electric vibe in the air at the start of this race. Holeshot goes to ... Fabien Izoird! Second is Ryan Dungey ... but Dungey has moved into the lead before the end of the first lap.

At the end of this first lap - it's Ryan Dungey leading, Izoird second, Chad Reed third, Nick Wey fourth .... poor starts for Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart. Ryan is back in tenth. James is 13th.

Lap three Stewart closes in on Villopoto to battle for ninth position. Stewart pushes inside into a right hand turn on Villopoto - and they both fall!! Wow!

Lap four - Ryan Dungey with the lead, Chad Reed is second, Trey Canard to third. James Stewart is in 11th, Ryan Villopoto is 16th.

Running order now on lap eight - Dungey first, Reed second, Canard third, Wey fourth, James Stewart up to fifth, then Brayton, Izoird, Peick, Stroupe, Millsaps, Short, Windham, Seely ... Villopoto is 17th.

Lap ten - the halfway point - looks like there is going to be another big change in the point standings for Supercross 2011, as series points leader Ryan Villopoto is back in 16th. Ryan Dungey is leading - will he get his first win of the season? Chad Reed is second - he most likely will take over the points lead if things stay as is. Trey Canard another great ride in third. James Stewart up to fourth.

Two laps later - Villopoto is being lapped. Either he got banged up in that crash with Stewart, or there is a problem with the bike. Dungey is the leader, Reed second, Canard third, Stewart fourth. Villopoto is up to 14th.

Ryan Dungey leads Chad Reed by a little over three seconds with one lap to go. Trey Canard is in third, about 14 seconds back. James Stewart is fourth.

Ryan Dungey

Ryan Dungey has won the Toronto Supercross! His first victory of the season! Chad Reed finishes second ... and gives Dungey a nice pat on the back. Trey Canard is third. James Stewart, although way back, is still fourth. Justin Brayton fifth. Nick Wey sixth - everyone else was lapped. Ryan Villopoto finishes ninth.

Chad Reed is the new Supercross Series points leader!

Chad Reed says: You've got to carry on. Ryan (Dungey) rode an amazing race, I gave it everything I had just to stick with him. The team (TwoTwo Motorsports) is awesome. We are sitting pretty good in the championship - I want to win this thing so bad.

Ryan Dungey says: It's been a tough one (the season so far). I got off to a great start tonight. It feels awesome. The track was tough - glad we could pull it off. I want to thank the Man above, and my parents. There was a really close call over the triples - I'm glad things worked out for me.

Ketting dungey eraf, blok stuk gelopen.
Crash van stewart op Daytona en vorige week.
Villopoto niet gekwalificeerd voor main event afgelopen week etc

spannend seizoen!

As Stewart pulled alongside the vehicle, the driver identified himself as a law officer.

2e manche out...
