Hi all,

I am planning a trip to Netherlands and I intend to rent a bike and spend a weekend touring.

I am interested in nice touring routes in Netherlands, can you give any hints?

I would especially like to have a trip around tulip fields, I think now is the tulips' blooming time, rght? Do you think it's possible?

I would also like to know if speeding can be a problem if I ride rented bike and be out of the country in two days. Do you think cameras can be a problem?

About renting the bike, I found only one possibility:
Global Motorcycle Rentals, Motorbike Hire, Motorradverleih
Do know of any other bike rentals?

Thanks

Best regards from the bulgarian motorcycle community.

holland is not only well known about weet, tulips and animal porn but also speed camera's

speeding in holland mostly means u will have a expensive day...

at first, sorry for my crappy english.

driving tru tulip fields is possible
just go to the bulbarea of the netherlands, there is olso the "keukenhof" where a lot of flowers are!

it's located at lisse/sassenheim/voorhout
There is olso the beach (noordwijk), so you can check that to :+

Most important.... dont worry too much about the speeding camera's.
I would worry alot more about the undercover police cars who can take youre drivers license away from you ( or pay a major fine right away ).
Just look alot in your mirrors for suspecious vehicles who drive exactly the same speed as you or follow you alot and hope you dont get caught :)

I dont know where to go for tullips though :)
You can try the place's Reufneck wrote above me ( http://www.routenet.nl ) you can make some route's plannings here if you know the starting and finish place ( use "vermijdt snelweg" = avoid highway ) ).

About renting a motorcycle, there are ALOT of place's you can rent a motorcycle.
Can you tell me more of the area you want to visit or where you want to start your tour ( maybe we can find a suitable renting company in the nearby.

Good luck!

The lack of decent English on forums ---> ;(

www.routenet.nl is the best around on the net, for planning trips to several cities. Otherwise, try to consult some of the tourist information centers.

As one mentioned, I would be very carefull for undercover policecars and the ever famous, Lasergun.....

I dont think cameras will be such a problem, it takes about 1 or 2 weeks before the ticket will get to the owner of the bike. It would be a problem if they make you sign a contract which says that they will claim the money for the speeding ticket.....

Bulgaria and the Netherlands don't have some sort of agreement that they will send the ticket to your home address in Bulgaria (some countries like germany and France do), this however does not give you the right to f*ck up our reputation in the Netherlands....

Thanks for the info.

And all english I read was OK :-) That's one of the most notable distingushing features of dutchmen - good english. You don't ask 'do you speak english', you just go ahead and say what you want to say. That's nowhere else to be seen.

About the bike rental, I will arrive in Amsterdam and I'll spend most of my time in Den Haag, so any of the two places will do.

O man, you come to holland and you want to see tullips? Make a motorcycle trip around the "wallen" i would recomment, there you can see pussy!

It depends on your startingpoint
if it's Amsterdam you could go north along the Ijsselmeer towards Den Helder or the
Afsluitdijk (and cross it to go to the provence of Friesland)
South towards Alphen aan de Rijn and Gouda
East passing Utrecht will give you the Heuvelrug and a little towards arnhem is the Hoge veluwe

I would certainly avoid going south along the coastline
if it says "Randstad" you want to stay clear of it , especially during rushhour
-if you do happen to get stuck in traffic, we're allowed to pass between cars by law
but with a speed difference of at most 10km/h

as for renting
maybe this page motor.startpagina.nl de startpagina voor alle motorrijders can help you
(Check the "Motor Verhuur" section)

As for speeding,...
Many of us have trouble staying clear of the mobile cameras, if you're not familiar with the
route I suggest you stick with the indicated max. speeds

And prob. Deputy Duc O-)
I can recommend some good locks when you stay at Amsterdam or The Hague and have to leave your motorcycle alone on the street some hours :j
I think the rental company can lend you some :)

You might consider the extra charges for stuff like extra kilometers etc... when you compare rental company's.

Like sayd before mind the bad english!

Mind the speed camera's but most of all the cars and laserguns. They will F##K your budget up.

Like above "De Utrechtse Heuvelrug" is a peacefull and bautifull peace of holland, this is the only peace whith littele hils and nice bends, go to the Posbank, its beautifull. I think its better than the tulips, you can see and love them for an hour and then you'll be bored of the roads tour driving, they are all strait overthere.

Greetings and if you have more questions be free to ask!

Forget about the tulipfields. Come to the 'Betuwe' and experience the beautiful dikes, flowers and wild nature along the Linge. You should check out this site, because pictures say more than words.

P.S. use www.routenet.nl to plan your route. Cities in the Betuwe are Tiel, Leerdam, Buren and Culemborg. So you can use that as a reference point to plan your route.
